Allegheny Builds Largest Ever Rigid Tank Liners

park.jpg (441468 bytes)Allegheny Plastics, Inc. is about to ship seven (7) Polypropylene Chemical Tank Liners from Leetsdale, Pennsylvania to Kansas. These are the largest liners of their type ever built (95’long X 11’4"wide X 14’deep) and are to be installed at the largest Hot Dip Galvanizing facility in the world.

Allegheny Plastics’ Process Equipment Division serves a world market supplying equipment and systems for Surface Treatment in the Galvanizing, Steel Strip, Wire, and Tube Industries.

Transportation represents a major challenge for the job as it was desirable to ship the liners in one piece. Allegheny has made special shipping arrangements with Norfolk Southern Railroad to ship the liners on their own train. While weight was not a factor (most of the load is air!), these liners were well outside the normal rail freight dimensions and special loading and routing arrangements were made.
