Strip Pickling Tanks
Polypropylene tanks require no external
and little internal maintenance. They do not have brick linings yet they retain heat as
well as lined tanks. They can be designed to operate at temperatures up to 100° C. Most tanks can be fabricated and shipped in one piece at
lengths up to 90 feet (27.4 M). They are lightweight, simple to install, easy to replace,
and economical. Repair costs and down time are minimal compared to the costs in time and
materials to repair steel tanks with rubber and brick linings. They are lighter in weight
and require less support structure. There is virtually no maintenance cost compared to
traditional tanks.

- SHALLOW, TURBULENT PICKLING TANKS FOR HYDROCHLORIC ACID SERVICE
The latest technology in carbon strip pickling utilizes polypropylene tanks with granite
side and bottom protectors. These tanks use turbulent flow to enhance pickling.
- TRADITIONAL DEEP PICKLING TANKS FOR HYDROCHLORIC ACID SERVICE
Polypropylene tanks are excellent replacement tanks for steel tanks on existing pickling
lines. They are designed to support the loads and take the mechanical abuse of catenary
type carbon strip pickling lines. Granite weir caps, bottom, and side protectors are used
in a manner similar to traditional tanks. The expansion and the contraction of the plastic
tank are accommodated by replaceable expansion seals. Days of down time are eliminated
with the replacement of existing tanks with polypropylene tanks
STRIP PICKLING TANKS FOR MIXED NITRIC AND HYDROFLUORIC ACID SERVICE
Polypropylene tanks for stainless steel and titanium strip pickling with mixed acids have
been in service for over twenty years. Plastic tanks have become the standard for new
shallow, turbulent type pickling lines as well as for replacing traditional steel tanks
with dunking rolls in existing lines. Special construction techniques are used to prolong
the life of polypropylene tanks in the very aggressive nitric/hydrofluoric acids.
