Card Data Personalization FAQs

  • Files can be uploaded to the Allegheny ftp site or emailed directly to our Secure Card Personalization department at ugdesk@allegheny.com  .  When emailed, it is recommended, but not required, that the file be zipped and password protected.  Send any password(s) separately.
  • Please clearly identify what specific order your file pertains to, such as referencing your purchase order number.
  • When sending multiple files, name the files in a way that clearly identifies which data file corresponds to each card format.
  • If you would like to upload your files to Allegheny's ftp site, please inform your customer service representative. They will have our IT Department establish a username and password for you.
  • Once you are setup on our ftp site, instructions will be sent to you as to how to access it.
  • We can also download files from your ftp site. Please provide us with the login information along with any needed instructions.
  • We highly recommend that you use an FTP program like Filezilla or Coreftp. They are free and work much better than simply using a web browser.

Data should never be sent to your sales representative or customer service representative. If emailing your files, always send them to ugdesk@allegheny.com which is on our secure server.

  • When data is placed on the Allegheny ftp site or on another site for download, please send an email to ugdesk@allegheny.com to let us know that the files are ready and where we can find the data.
  • Be sure to include the name of the file and clearly identify exactly what it is for.  Also include contact information in case there are any questions about the file.
  • When sending multiple files, name the files in a way that makes it obvious which data file corresponds to each card format.
  • The data file should be .txt (preferred), .xlsx, .xls, or .csv format.
  • Excel files with multiple tabs should not be used.  Always send as separate files instead.
  • Files for different cards must be in separate files.
  • Each data field must be in its own column.
  • Each column should have a column heading that describes what the data in that column is (i.e. Human Readable, Pin, Barcode, Track I, Track II, etc)
  • First, Middle, and Last names must be in the same column
  • Only include data that will go on the card.
  • There should be no blank lines in the data file.
  • Do not include commas and/or quote marks within the data.
  • Commas or tabs can be used to separate the fields.
